Bamboo Pavilion

The pavilion is located in the south of Portugal, which has a dry and warm climate. The design of the project was inspired by nature and the banding qualities of bamboo, which is the main building material.

It is a yoga and meditation centre with large terrace and an enclosed area for more secluded practices.

Bamboo comes from Portugal and is delivered to the site for further modifications. The bamboo poles used for rafters are bent using the rub-rub technique, while others are cut into splits for the ring beam and the purlins. The latter is made of thin bamboo rods (aka lidis) bundled together with a few split bamboos in the middle. The roof is covered with bamboo shingles.
